David B. Ellis, RHU is committed to providing quality advice about group and individual benefits including medical, disability, life, dental, vision.  He has also had extensive training and certifications related to the Affordable Care Act and how it affects individuals and families as they face the challenges of understanding and obtaining health insurance in this ever-changing environment. David can also help Senior citizens with various health insurance needs including Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans.

David became an insurance agent after the summer of 1995, where he spent time at a regional TPA Gilsbar working with family members via selling and servicing individual insurance programs to professional association members.  Health Insurance quickly became his specialty and has maintained an interest over 20 years in this profession working with a family agency Robert Ellis & Associates as well as for large consulting firms including Brown & Brown and Arthur J. Gallagher & Company. David’s initial focus was providing insurance programs to associations that included doctors, lawyers, cpas and pharmacists as well as prospecting, selling and servicing mid-market accounts in various industries including healthcare.

Knowing how the various insurance companies compensated agents, he saw that many people were being placed with companies and plan types because of the financial reward to the agents and not because of the best interests of their clients. David instead pushed to show the importance of consumer-driven health care plans and the associated tax and premium savings. In David’s early years in the profession, he watched three insurers withdraw from the market leaving their customers with no option except a very expensive state high-risk pool. He recognized the great responsibility agents have to always do everything possible in the best interests of the client.

Part of his commitment to be truly helpful to those who come to him for their health insurance needs is to be as knowledgeable as possible about what people want in their healthcare, what they need in their health insurance, and to help them understand both, so their health insurance works the way they expect at the time of a claim. David B. Ellis has held the designations of Registered Health Underwriter from The American College. He fulfills regular continuing education requirements to maintain his life & health and property & casualty licenses.
